The Promise

Painted on location on the shore of Lake Michigan in Door County, Wisconsin. This was painted the day after my father's passing. It's a very personal piece. I wrote a blog post about it on my website where you can read the entire story. I was competing in the Door County Plein Air Festival when I was called back to Nebraska to be with my father as he passed away. When he saw me, he made me promise that I would go back to Door County to finish the competition and "paint the best paintings you've ever done." I did go back the next day and as I finished this painting, a huge double rainbow appeared over Lake Michigan...a sign from my father and a message of hope and the promise of life everlasting beyond this world.
