This oil painting is based on an evening drive through the prairies. The recent month had been moist and the grasses still had the lushness of summer. I primed the whole canvas with a rosy pink/red to portray the incredible pink sky as the sun was setting about ninety degrees away. I allowed little bits of underpainting to show through on the land just under the horizon.
