Stepping Stones at North Bovey, Devon.

Painted in watercolor, a trip to Devon, U.K. in 2023 to view a potential art retreat where I had been invited to teach watercolour in 2024. The village of North Bovey is in the Dartmoor National Park where I spent a few days sketching and painting plein air, in between rain showers! These are the beautiful stepping stones across the river just outside the village and I only saw one other person the whole time I was there, it was quite serene and a little misty with the sun breaking through. I had two attempts at this scene, then painted from the village green the next day. I was trying out the new granulating watercolours from Daniel Smith including green apetite genuine and shadow violet.
