Sunshine, Aspens and A Winter Day

This is a watercolor piece on 140 lb Arches Cold Press paper on stretcher bars. As an artist I am drawn to the transparency of watercolor and the effects of light and dark in a painting or a scene. My artwork focuses on the enhancement of color and focal points that light emphasizes. As a watercolorist my interest is in exploring realistic detailed representation of landscape and cityscape scenes. Detailed images and exploring new techniques inspires and challenges me more than simplistic representation and traditional methods. My recent interest has been with ‘pouring’ watercolor techniques and experimentation has led him to some innovative approaches to this application of watercolor.
