The subject of fly fishing has always had a visual and emotional impact on me. Although I don’t fish, I admire the aesthetically pleasing image of fisherman in their hip waders casting their flies to land a prize.
Fishing and friendship seem to go hand in hand. Fishermen enjoy the pleasure of the being outdoors being near or in the water often seen bonding with other fishing a-fish-o-nados.
The panoramic shape of the painting lends itself to the natural long wide shorelines. I chose to work on a vinyl tile allowing me the flexibility to paint in many layers using tools like the brayer, palette knife and silicone shapers which I enjoy painting with.
