The cardinal’s cry is often heard before seen, is so distinct and is not easily forgotten. It’s vibrant song is matched by the male cardinal’s vibrant color and all the more striking in a contrasting snowy landscape near a dark stream. I used the palette knife to build up snowy textures on the tree trunk and fine liner brushes to captures details of the cardinal.
