Across Our Street

Oil on canvas. I’m often mesmerized by the play of light and shadow — particularly on pavement. It’s just asphalt, but it’s often the subject of my art. The scene is from our front yard looking across the road towards afternoon light. I do not get to see the sunset because of the trees — but instead do get to enjoy the leaves that filter the light like stained glass window and the shadow they cast onto the road.
